Eureka – A Pot of Gold

It was one of those light bulb moments and it happened completely by chance as it always does; well let me go back a while to explain:

I run a Wealth Management business based in Singapore but I originate from Guernsey in the Channel Islands just offshore the Northwest coast of France. A beautiful little island of less than 60 thousand people which is a well known tax haven. Anyway, my family have been in Wealth Management for many years which is how I became involved in it and about 12 years ago a friend suggested that I should look overseas for a job in the same industry. This is how I came to be in Singapore and if you have never left your own surroundings more more than 1 month I encourage you to do so because its an enlightening expereince. Actually I would say that anyone that doesn’t live away from their home for more than 6 months at some point in there life will miss out on one of the most important things in life – independence!

Now I am sure you are wondering, what has all this got to do with Eureka – A Pot of Gold so let me tell you; It’s funny how you sometimes have to extract yourself from your own environment to see things clearly.  I come from a close family but I didn’t realise how close until I extracted myself, you see my eyes were closed and had been for quite some time. I always new I would work in Wealth Management as this was dinner time conversation at my house and for the past 17 years (incidentally I am 37 years old) this is exactly what I have been doing for a living. Now whilst I have personally made myself a millionnaire in the process, I have never really enjoyed the business I work in and have always wanted to do something different but with the daily duties of running my own business I just never got around to it, that is until now.

Not only have I been in the same profession for 17 years focused on making money for both my clients and myself just as my father before me, I have been overseas (away from my home) for more than 12 years without letting go of all I was brought up to know. Rediculous, it was time to think outside the box.

Eureka, I heard in my own head the day I stumbled across this amazing life changing experience. I instantly and instinctively knew that all those years of continuing to do what I always had, all those old habits, all those things I was too frightended to let go of were about to change. I had finally found my destiny and what’s more interesting to me is that it’s within a profession that I had always admired but never even thought about . More importantly though it was going to free up my time so that I could spend more time with my family, it was easy to put together and could be run from anywhere in the world. This element was especially close to my heart because after so many years away the thought of returning to my homeland is quite exciting but in case I am not so inammered with the little island  when the time comes I could always pick up my bags and move on again in the knowledge that my business would be safely with me.

How many of you have seen opportunity but have chosen to stay within your comfort zone? This is so common and quite frankly if it wasn’t for me being able to look at my life from afar I would be still doing the same old thing to.

What drew me most to this opportunity was the fact that not only could I make pots of money but I could also make others pots of money too. I have been focused on this new venture for only a short while but it has changed my thinking forever and even if it does take me more time than most to bring this to the heights of success I will always be thankful for that Eureka moment that day online. This is power full stuff and if you want to be free from the burden of the mundane in your life you should take a look closer at what I found. What I found was……
